About Alrais Academy
Alrais Academy is a children's football academy in Mankhool, Dubai, known on Instagram as Alrais Football Academy (أكاديمية الريس لكرة القدم). Its Instagram posts from 2025 and 2026 show children training with coaches and playing matches on outdoor artificial-grass pitches. In February 2025, Dubai Civil Defence visited to give the academy's students a safety talk and show them a Civil Defence vehicle, with Al Mankhool Public Library helping to organise the day. The academy is at 16 2B Street in Mankhool, and its Google listing shows it open on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5PM to 8PM. Before you sign up, call +971 54 375 5588 and ask which ages it takes, how groups are split, which evenings your child's group trains, what a term or session costs and whether your child can try a session first. Its Instagram, @alrais_academy, shows its training sessions and matches.
The activity
Football, explained
Football is the world's most played team sport: two teams try to get the ball into the other side's goal using any part of the body except the arms and hands. Children usually start with ball mastery, dribbling, passing, shooting and simple games in small groups, often on a smaller pitch with small-sided teams. As they progress, sessions add positions, teamwork and match play. It builds speed, balance, coordination and stamina, and teaches children to work as a team, follow rules and cope with winning and losing. Many academies take children from about four or five, grouping them by age and level.
Who it's for
Children. The academy's Instagram shows children training and playing matches; ask the academy which age groups it coaches, whether beginners are welcome, whether there are groups for girls and whether groups are split by age or level.
What to expect
Ask the academy what a first session looks like, how long sessions last, whether your child can try a session and what kit is needed. The academy's Google listing photo and Instagram posts show outdoor artificial-grass pitches, with children in training bibs or team kit and football boots working with a coach, so boots suitable for artificial grass, shin pads and a water bottle are worth checking before the first session. Ask exactly where on 2B Street to go, where to park and whether parents can stay and watch. Its Google listing shows it open on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, so ask which of those your child's group trains. Call +971 54 375 5588.
