The activity

Sensory Play, explained

Sensory play covers hands-on activities such as water and sand tables, textured toys, messy play with dough or paint, and simple cause-and-effect games. They help young children explore the world through touch, sight, sound and movement. In nurseries and childcare centres it is usually part of the full day, alongside structured learning, free play and rest, rather than a standalone class. It supports fine motor skills, language and calm, focused play, especially for toddlers and pre-schoolers, who learn best by doing rather than sitting still. If sensory play matters to you, ask a nursery how often it features in the day and what a typical activity looks like.

Who it's for

Children aged 18 months to 6 years, as the nursery states on its own Instagram profile. Ask the provider whether it offers anything for older children outside nursery hours.

What to expect

The provider doesn't publish a description of a typical day, a settling-in routine or a trial visit on its social pages or its online enrolment form. Ask the provider directly about visiting before you enrol, how settling-in works and what your child needs to bring. Enrolment runs through an online application form on the Lillio (formerly HiMama) childcare platform, and the nursery takes calls on 054 745 6439 during opening hours: 7am-7pm Monday to Friday and 7am-6pm on Saturday.
