The activity

Table Tennis, explained

Table tennis is a fast, low-impact racket sport that builds hand-eye coordination, reflexes and focus. It works well for children because it's easy to pick up a bat and start rallying on day one, while there's real depth to master as they improve. Sessions typically involve footwork and stroke drills, then games or point-play, and it can be played indoors all year, one-on-one or in small groups. Because it doesn't rely on size or strength, children can start young and improve quickly with regular practice, and it's a sport the whole family can enjoy together. Starting ages vary by club, so it's worth asking before you book.

Who it's for

Kids and adults of all ages and skill levels, from beginners taking their first steps to players who want to sharpen their skills and compete. Private and group coaching are both offered. A youngest starting age isn't given, so ask the academy before booking a young child.

What to expect

Coaching covers technique, footwork, speed, control and confidence. The academy's recent videos show multi-ball training, where a coach feeds ball after ball so a player can repeat a stroke, and its coach going through the fundamentals of technique and control. A free trial session was advertised on the academy's Instagram in August 2026, so ask whether one is available when you get in touch. If your child would like a feel for the sport first, a table can be booked for a casual game on the academy's Playo calendar. For session length, group sizes and what to bring, ask the academy.
