Russian School of Mathematics — RSM Production City
About Russian School of Mathematics
Russian School of Mathematics (RSM) runs after-school maths enrichment at two Dubai centres: Production City (Publishing Pavilion, IMPZ) and Knowledge Park (Knowledge Village). Its approach is based on elite maths schools of the former Soviet Union and is adapted to complement the curriculum a child already follows, such as British, American or IB. Each class meets once a week, for 1.5 hours for kindergarteners and longer for older grades, and the average class size is 12. Lessons lean on discussion: children are encouraged to explain and debate their ideas, and younger grades mix activities with hands-on materials to stay engaged. At Production City, the 2026-2027 timetable runs from Kindergarten up to Algebra I/II for Grades 8-9, with classes on Sundays, Mondays and Fridays, and the year started on 6 September 2026. Knowledge Park's 2026-2027 classes start on 9 September 2026, and RSM's page for that centre describes programmes from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Every new family starts with a free evaluation, and tuition by grade is emailed as a PDF after an enquiry form on the centre's page.
The activity
Maths Tutor, explained
Maths enrichment is extra maths outside the school day that goes deeper than the school curriculum rather than just repeating it. Children work in small groups on problems that take real thinking, talk through different ways to solve them and learn to explain their reasoning out loud. Alongside number skills it builds logical thinking, persistence and confidence with harder, unfamiliar problems. Children can join anywhere from the early primary years to secondary school, and programmes usually place them by level rather than age alone, so a child who finds school maths easy gets stretched while a child who needs a second explanation gets one. Regular homework reinforces what was covered in class.
Who it's for
Children who want maths beyond the school day, whichever curriculum they follow. Production City's 2026-2027 timetable lists Kindergarten, Grades 1-5 Accelerated, Pre-Algebra (Grade 6), Algebra I and Geometry I/II (Grades 7-8) and Algebra I/II (Grades 8-9), with no Grade 10-12 classes. RSM's Knowledge Park page lists programmes from Kindergarten to high school plus a competition programme. If you need an older grade, ask the centre you pick.
What to expect
Start with a free evaluation, where the team gets a sense of your child's needs and recommends the class that suits them best. Each class meets once a week. At Production City that is 1.5 hours for Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Geometry, 2 hours for Grades 2-5 and Pre-Algebra, and 2.5 hours for Algebra; Knowledge Park says its classes run from 1.5 hours for kindergarteners to 2-4 hours in high school. Younger grades switch between activities and hands-on materials. Expect a class of around 12 where children talk through and debate their ideas. Homework should take roughly half the length of the lesson; if it takes much longer or shorter, the school treats that as a sign the level may need changing.
