The activity

Tennis, explained

Tennis coaching teaches kids to rally, serve and play points on court, building hand-eye coordination, footwork and focus along the way. Sessions usually run as private one-to-one lessons, semi-private pairs or small group classes, with a coach feeding balls and correcting technique. Many young children begin with mini tennis - softer, slower balls on a smaller court - before moving on to standard balls and full courts as they grow. It suits children who enjoy an individual sport with clear, visible progress, and it is a skill they can keep playing with friends and family for years.

Who it's for

Kids and adults, from complete beginners to competitive players. The academy says junior students of any age are welcome in group and private sessions. No minimum age is published - ask the coach if your child is very young.

What to expect

New families can book a free 45-minute trial with no commitment needed. The booking form asks for your programme of interest, preferred location and a preferred time band - morning (before 12 PM), afternoon (12-5 PM), evening (5-9 PM), weekend only, or flexible - so the academy can match you to a slot. Balls and training equipment are provided for all coaching sessions; ask the provider whether your child needs their own racket and what to wear on court.
