About NBA Basketball School
NBA Basketball School is a basketball programme for boys and girls aged 7-19, with training at school venues in Dubai. Players are placed after a trial into one of four levels - Rookie, Starter, All Star and MVP, the top level, where players must be invited by the Technical Director to try out - and move up through regular skill assessments. There is also a Girls Only programme, where girls train on teams with girls of their own age and ability, plus in-house and elite leagues for match play. The school says it teaches "the NBA way": a curriculum of on-court training, strength and conditioning, basketball education and game play, built around values of integrity, teamwork, respect and determination. Sessions last 90 minutes, two or three times a week depending on level, and the school publishes its full Season 2026/27 fees on its website. The office is in Al Shatha Tower, Dubai Media City; training happens at the schools, and venue placement depends on your child's age group and level.
The activity
Basketball, explained
Basketball coaching builds dribbling, passing, shooting and defensive skills through drills, small-sided games and, as players progress, full-court play. Structured programmes often group players by skill level as well as age, moving beginners through the fundamentals before adding game strategy and competitive matches. Sessions mix on-court technical work with age-appropriate strength and conditioning, and the team setting teaches listening, cooperation and sportsmanship. Children can start once they are comfortable following a coach's instructions in a group, and many carry on into their teens, training a few times a week during term with extra camps in the school holidays.
Who it's for
Boys and girls aged 7-19, from complete beginners to elite players. Players are grouped by ability into Rookie, Starter, All Star and MVP levels (MVP is by invitation from the Technical Director), and there is a separate Girls Only programme.
What to expect
Start by contacting the operations team, who explain the programme and the commitment; you can then book a free trial session. Trials run as dedicated sessions near the end and start of each term, or mid-term during a regular training session where there is space. Come in comfortable workout clothes and suitable footwear, with a water bottle. After the trial, the coaches' feedback decides the level, and places are offered by ability and on a first come, first served basis. Once registered, players train in the official school kit for 90 minutes, two or three times a week depending on level. Sessions are mostly instruction (about 80%) with the rest game play.
