About Natura tribe

Natura Tribe describes itself as a nature-inspired collective reconnecting children and families with the natural world. It runs its programmes at Natura Tribe Village, inside Nature Escapes in Al Barari, a green space the team describes as full of trees, a manmade river and natural habitats. Children have a mud kitchen, digging area, pond, garden and animals to explore. Weekly programmes run in 6-week terms and cover every age from 6 months to 15 years: caregiver-and-child sessions for babies and toddlers, drop-off Forest Sessions for ages 4.5 to 10 (with separate weekday-morning groups for homeschooled children), and Woodlanders survival-skills sessions for ages 10 to 15. Each session mixes one guided project, such as outdoor cooking, shelter building or planting, with free play. For families who want to try it once, there are single-day options: holiday Nature Camps, evening Night Safaris, Nature Playdates and a monthly gardening day. Sessions run through public holidays and may go ahead in rain when it is safe.

The activity

Forest School & Nature Club, explained

Forest school is learning that happens outside, in all weathers, with nature as the classroom. Children spend a session in a wooded or garden space mixing short guided projects with free play: building shelters, cooking on a campfire, planting, caring for animals, hunting for bugs and making things from natural materials. Adults set the task and keep things safe, and children lead much of the rest. Parents usually look for it to build confidence, independence, practical skills and a calmer relationship with the outdoors, away from screens. Many programmes start with toddlers attending alongside a parent and move to drop-off sessions once children are around school age.

Who it's for

Children from 6 months to 15 years, in separate programmes by age: Children of the Wood (6 months to 6 years, with a caregiver), Nature Kitchen (1 to 3 years, with a caregiver), Nature Sessions (2 to 5 years, with a caregiver), Forest Sessions (4.5 to 10 years, drop-off; older children up to 12 who enjoy the outdoors are welcome; the Tuesday and Thursday morning groups are for homeschooled children), and Woodlanders Youth (10 to 15 years, drop-off). Holiday Nature Camps are for ages 3 to 10: children 5 and over can attend alone, children aged 3 to 4 come with a caregiver. Nothing is published about special educational needs, so ask the provider.

What to expect

A Forest Session lasts 2 hours: one guided nature project (outdoor cooking, supervised wood whittling, shelter building, forest games, journaling or a nature walk), then play and exploration in the mud kitchen, garden, sand and digging area and pond. Parents can leave or wait in a designated nearby area. Pack mosquito repellent, a towel, snacks and water, a swimsuit and spare clothes. Food is not allowed in the mud kitchen and pond area. No trial class is published and term fees are non-refundable. For a one-off first, the provider suggests Nature Camps, Night Safari (Saturdays 6:00 to 7:30 PM, ages 3 to 10 with a caregiver) or Nature Playdate (Sundays, ages 1 to 6 with a caregiver).
