The activity

Tutoring, explained

Tutoring gives a child focused one-to-one or small-group time on the subjects and exam boards their school class can't cover individually - filling gaps, building exam technique, or keeping pace with a curriculum such as GCSE, A-Level, IB or CBSE. A tutor usually starts with an assessment to see where a student is strong or struggling, then builds a plan around specific subjects. Language classes work in a similar way, building vocabulary, reading and conversation confidence alongside school lessons. Mental-maths programmes such as abacus training aim to build number sense and concentration. Tutoring can start in the early primary years and run right through secondary exam years.

Who it's for

School-age children and teens: British curriculum students from Year 1 to Year 13, CBSE Grades 1-12, American curriculum from elementary to AP, and IB MYP to Diploma. Younger children can join Arabic for Children (ages 4-12) or the ABACUS 2.0 mental-maths programme (ages 5-12). Language classes in Arabic, English, French and German are also open to older learners.

What to expect

Curriculum students start with a free assessment to pin down strengths and gaps, then get a personalised study plan and one-to-one or small-group sessions, face to face or online; the centre says parents get regular updates on attendance, topics and progress. The abacus programme offers a free trial class. French and German group courses follow CEFR levels (Starter to C2) and each run 4-6 weeks, with private and semi-private options at flexible times. What to bring and exact session lengths - ask the provider.
