About GRIP Sports

GRIP Sports is a tennis and padel club on First Al Khail Street in Jumeirah Heights, next to JLT. It runs two academies, Lawn Tennis and Padel Tennis, and each has junior coaching alongside its adult programme. On the club's 2025-26 junior price lists, children can join Intro to Tennis (45 minutes) or Intro to Padel (60 minutes), then move up to a Junior Squad, with a maximum of four players per group, once or twice a week over 13 weeks. Private and semi-private lessons are also offered. Tennis and padel courts can be booked online. The coaching team listed on the site includes a former Macedonian national champion and former NCAA Division I players; the Director of Sport, Vishesh Bhatia, is also a tennis coach. The club names the Dubai Sports Council, the UAE Tennis Federation and the UAE Padel Association as partners. Core Connect Studio runs yoga and pilates classes on site, and there are changing rooms and free parking. GRIP Sports is rated 4.7 on Google from 104 reviews.

The activity

Tennis, explained

Tennis is a racquet sport played on a court split by a net, one against one or in pairs. Young beginners usually start with softer, slower balls, smaller courts and shorter racquets, so rallies come quickly and they don't lose heart. Coaching sessions mix footwork games, hand-eye drills and simple match play. Over time children build coordination, balance, speed and stamina, along with the patience to lose a point and reset for the next one. Many clubs start children at around four or five years old, though every academy sets its own age bands. Padel, played in a glass-walled court with a solid racquet, is a close cousin many families try as well.

Who it's for

Children and teenagers in the junior tennis and padel groups (Intro to Tennis, Intro to Padel and Junior Squads), as well as adults. Groups have a maximum of four players. The current price lists do not give age bands; ask the provider which group suits your child's age and level.

What to expect

Junior group sessions are coached in groups of up to four: 45 minutes for Intro to Tennis and 60 minutes for Intro to Padel and the Junior Squads. Parents are asked not to stand on court during training but are welcome to watch from designated viewing areas; if your child needs you nearby, tell the coaches in advance. Players are expected to wear proper tennis clothing and bring their own racquet. Fees are paid in full before sessions start. The club's terms say group sessions can't be cancelled, so a missed group class counts as used. Private lessons must be cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours ahead or the full fee applies. Ask the provider about trial sessions.
