About Fresco Formation
Fresco Formation runs performing arts classes for children and adults in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, in three programmes. Drama covers scriptwriting, scene analysis, monologues and duologues, improvisation, mime, public speaking and comic timing. Musical Theatre keeps the acting but puts singing and dancing at the centre, with numbers from well-known shows, songs students choose themselves, set choreography and chances to create their own routines. The Film Program focuses on acting for the screen and the craft behind the camera - screenwriting, storyboarding, cinematography, sound and editing - and students finish with their own showreel to present to agencies. Classes are led by James Cuningham, an actor and director trained at the École Jacques Lecoq in Paris, who has worked in 15 countries across more than 30 stage shows and 25 film and TV productions. Drama, explained
Drama and performing arts classes teach kids to use their voice, body and imagination to tell a story - through scripted scenes, improvisation, movement and, in some programmes, singing or acting for camera. Beyond stagecraft, the main things it builds are confidence speaking in front of others, listening and reacting to a scene partner, and comfort with making mistakes in public. Musical theatre adds singing and choreography to acting; film-focused classes teach kids to act for a camera rather than a live audience, including working from a script, understanding what happens behind the camera and performing the same scene across several takes.
