About FL Tennis Academy Dubai
FL Tennis Academy Dubai coaches juniors and adults on four outdoor courts at The Villa in Dubailand, with private lessons alongside group classes. Children start from age 4 and move through a colour-coded pathway - White, Purple, Red, Orange, Green and Yellow - with each stage using a court size and ball suited to the age, from an 8m court with no net for the youngest to full-court tennis with standard balls from 11. Competitive players from 11 can be invited into a High Performance (Black) programme aimed at official tournaments. Groups are small: the academy says a maximum of four players per coach, grouped by age and level. The Director and Head Coach is Clement Vermeulen from France, who holds French Tennis Federation and Professional Tennis Registry certifications. The Dubai academy opened in 2020 and is part of FL Tennis Academy, which also has academies in France and Vietnam. Fees aren't listed on the website, so message the coach on WhatsApp to ask. Rated 5.0 on Google from 19 reviews.
The activity
Tennis, explained
Tennis lessons teach children grip, footwork, rallying and scoring. Young beginners usually start on a small court with a lower net and slower, softer balls, then move up court sizes and ball speeds as their coordination and control improve. Group classes build technique and fitness through drills and games, while private lessons give one-to-one attention on specific strokes. Along the way children learn to serve, rally and play simple matches, and many go on to junior tournaments. It suits kids who enjoy an individual sport with a competitive edge, and building steady progress over a term or two of regular lessons tends to pay off.
Who it's for
Children from 4 years old, placed by age and level: White (from 4), Purple (from 5), Red (from 6), Orange (from 7), Green (from 9), Yellow (from 11, beginner to intermediate) and High Performance/Black (from 11, by invitation for players who want to compete). Complete beginners are welcome. Adults' group classes and private or semi-private lessons for juniors and adults are also offered.
What to expect
Each junior stage has its own court and ball: White plays on an 8m court with no net and a 26cm ball, Purple on an 11m court with a 50cm net, Red on a 12 x 8m court with a foam or stage 3 ball. Groups have up to four children per coach, so there is plenty of hitting and hands-on correction. Players bring their own racket and water; court, coaching, materials and taxes are included in the fee. Term 1 runs 24 August to 13 December 2026. Absences are not refunded, but lessons are credited for bad weather or if the coach cancels. Ask the provider about trial sessions.
