The academy lists 7 badminton courts, 8 coaches and over 100 students, and describes its coaches as BWF-certified. For children there are group coaching, semi-private and private coaching, private sparring and, on request, elite coaching. The kids' programme covers basic skills, fitness sessions and game strategy, with sessions grouped by age and level. Alongside coaching, the hall does court hire, racket stringing on site, and sells badminton kit. The activity

Badminton, explained

Badminton is a fast racket sport played over a high net with a feathered or nylon shuttlecock, as singles or doubles. Children start by learning how to hold the racket, move their feet around the court and hit clean serves and clears, then build up to smashes, drops and net shots. Because the shuttle slows down in the air, even young beginners can keep a rally going quite quickly, which keeps it fun. It builds hand-eye coordination, agility, stamina and quick decision-making, and doubles adds teamwork. Many clubs take children from around five or six, and it is played indoors, so it works well all year in Dubai.

Who it's for
