The activity

Exam Prep, explained

Exam prep and after-school tuition give children structured extra time on school subjects outside the classroom. Sessions usually mix teaching with practice problems, homework workbooks and regular tests, so gaps show up early and can be worked on before exams. Olympiad coaching stretches keen students with competition-style questions in maths, science, English and reasoning. Mental maths programmes such as abacus start much younger, often around four, and train children to picture the beads and calculate in their heads, building speed, concentration and confidence with numbers. Most centres run small groups or one-to-one lessons, in person or live online.

Who it's for

Abacus Mental Math: ages 4-14 (Foundation 4-5, Intermediate 6-9, Upper Intermediate 10-14, then Advanced and Grand levels). Foundation Programs and Olympiad coaching: Grades 6 to 10. Group, small-group and one-to-one options for abacus. The centre also serves older students (Grades 8-12 and graduates) with career counselling and entrance and test prep.
