Art Mystics is a children's art studio in Arjan, Al Barsha, with programmes for ages 3 to 15. The studio says its classes use "no templates": children work through guided projects in sketching, painting and mixed media. Young Dreamers (ages 3-12) is the core weekly class, split into 3-4, 4-8 and 6-12 time slots so younger and older siblings aren't doing the same project. Young Dreamers Advanced (8-15) and Draw Like a Pro (7+, pencil and charcoal) are for children ready for more technique. The After School Friday Club (4-7 and 8-12) introduces a different artist each week before an inspired project, and Process Art is for ages 3-5. Paints, brushes, canvases and aprons are provided, new students can book a low-cost introductory trial, and the studio also hosts art birthday parties. It rates 5.0 on Google from 37 reviews.

The activity

Art Classes, explained

Art classes give kids a set of tools - drawing, painting, mixed media, colour and shape - and regular time to use them. A typical session moves from a short demo or introduction into a hands-on project, so a 4 year old and a 10 year old can both be working at their own level. Over a term children build hand control, patience with a project that takes more than one sitting, and the confidence to show other people what they made. Older children can move on to technique: perspective, shading, layering and composition. Many children start a weekly class somewhere between three and five, when they can hold a brush and follow a simple demo.

Who it's for

Children aged 3 to 15. Process Art: 3-5. Young Dreamers: 3-12, in 3-4, 4-8 and 6-12 slots. After School Friday Club: 4-7 and 8-12. Draw Like a Pro: ages 7+, intermediate and above. Young Dreamers Advanced: 8-15, for children with prior art experience or a strong wish to build skills. No prior experience is needed for the main classes. The studio says it is inclusive and asks parents of children with special needs to get in touch before booking.

What to expect

New students can book a low-cost introductory trial session before committing to a term; book it via the contact form or by phone. Young Dreamers classes last an hour, with afternoon slots Monday to Thursday, an early-evening slot on Friday (6:30-7:30PM) and morning slots on Saturday. The After School Friday Club runs for two hours: an artist introduction, a quiz or game, an 80-minute art project, then sharing and clean-up. Paints, brushes, canvases and aprons are all provided, so children don't need to bring anything. New students can join mid-term, subject to availability.
