About Al Dhabi Horse Riding
Al Dhabi Horse Riding is the family-run farm stables of the Al Dhabi Group, set on Emirates Road (E611) near Al Awir at the edge of the Dubai desert. The business was established in 2012 by Jamal Bindhabboi Al Falasi, whose Bedouin family has kept horses for generations. For children, the group runs pony lessons from age five, taught by international female instructors experienced in teaching children, on ponies that are almost all home-bred, from the tiny Shetland-cross Mabrook up to 142cm. Families can choose a group pony lesson (45 minutes, AED 160), a private pony lesson (30 minutes, AED 200) or a private lesson shared by two children (30 minutes, AED 360), each also sold as a 10-session package. Helmets are supplied. Short 'pony riding for fun' sessions start at AED 40 for 15 minutes, and the farm also hosts children's parties. It is rated 4.9 on Google from 272 reviews.
The activity
Horse Riding, explained
Pony riding lessons teach children balance, coordination and how to handle and communicate with a horse. Young riders usually start on a pony that suits their size, with an instructor alongside, learning to sit correctly, steer, stop and trust the animal before building towards riding more independently. Beyond the saddle, riding builds confidence, patience and a sense of responsibility, because children also learn how ponies are cared for and how the tack and equipment work. Many stables take children from around five, and a first lesson is often short so a young rider can settle in without getting tired or overwhelmed.
Who it's for
Children aged 5 and up, from complete beginners building confidence to young riders ready to develop independence. Lessons can be group, private for one child, or private for two children together.
What to expect
The children's programme starts with confidence building and the basic skills: balance, coordination and getting to know horses and the equipment used. As children progress they move on to riding more independently and refining their skills. Lessons are taught by female instructors experienced in teaching children, on ponies matched to the child's size. Group lessons last 45 minutes and private pony lessons 30 minutes. Helmets are supplied, so children just need comfortable clothes. There is no published trial policy, so ask the provider whether a single lesson is a good first step before buying a 10-session package, and confirm which stable your child's lessons will be at.
