Are public libraries in Dubai free?
Yes. Entry, reading on site, study space and most children’s activities at Dubai Public Libraries branches are free for everyone, residents and visitors. Borrowing books needs a Dubai Public Libraries membership, open to citizens, residents and registered companies, which also brings free internet and reduced service fees. Mohammed Bin Rashid Library has its own free entry and membership.
Which Dubai library is good for kids?
Mohammed Bin Rashid Library in Al Jaddaf has a dedicated children’s library with picture books, reading corners and workshops. Most Dubai Public Libraries branches have a children’s section; Umm Suqeim’s comes with audiovisual facilities, Al Mankhool and Hor Al Anz read stories in several languages, and Al Safa Art and Design Library suits older children who draw and design.
Do Dubai libraries have storytime for toddlers?
Dubai Public Libraries branches run free story sessions, reading clubs and craft activities for young children in Arabic, English and other languages, plus summer and winter camps. Sessions are announced on each branch’s page and social accounts, and a few need a free booking.
What are Dubai public library opening hours?
Hours differ by branch: the big city branches (Al Mankhool, Hor Al Anz, Al Rashidiya) open weekday mornings to evening and Friday mornings, while Umm Suqeim and Hatta open Saturday to Thursday from 10am to 5pm. Hours change in Ramadan, so check the branch page before you go.
Can tourists use Dubai public libraries?
Yes. Anyone can walk in, read, use the children’s section and join free activities. Borrowing needs a membership, which asks for an Emirates ID, so a visitor can read on site but not usually take books home.
